Update – Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-2019)

To all of our valued patients,

Cases of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-2019) continue to increase in the United States. The state and the entire nation are mounting a coordinated response to fight this pandemic.

Fountainhead Dentistry is committed to protecting our patients and community; therefore we have decided to close the office from 3/16/20 until 4/10/20.

We will continue to remain available over telephone 301-797-6950 during normal office hours. We will still see patients for any dental emergency treatment.

After hours you can reach us at 301-797-6950 or 301-745-1413.

We are sorry for the inconvenience, but your health and safety are our primary concern.

You can call Meritus Health301-790-9170 – if you are concerned that you may be experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. You can email questions and concerns to [email protected], which should be answered within 48 hours. To see the rest of Meritus Health’s updates, follow this link (https://www.meritushealth.com/patients-visitors/public-notice/).

We have included the current CDC guidelines below. If you are experiencing fever and symptoms of respiratory illness, have been in close contact with a person known to have COVID-19, or have recently traveled to an area with ongoing spread, we recommend that you contact your doctor.

What are the Symptoms?

  • Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure
    • Fever
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath
  • Emergency warning signs – if you have these seek medical attention immediately!
    • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
    • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
    • New confusion of inability to arouse
    • Bluish lips or face

How does COVID-19 Spread?

  • Mainly person-to-person
    • Between people in close contact (6 feet)
    • Through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes

Areas with Widespread or Sustained Transmission

  • China
  • Iran
  • Most European Countries
  • United Kingdom and Ireland
  • South Korea

How to Prevent

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Stay home when you are sick
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
    • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol
  • Follow CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask
    • CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19.
    • Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the disease to others. The use of facemasks is also crucial for health workers and people who are taking care of someone in close settings
